2016 Eagle Summit Cabernet SauvignonThe vineyard really found itself in 2016. There's a certain magic when a piece of ground just knows what it's doing — and that year, Mt. Veeder showed us exactly that. The canopy managed itself, fruit set was nearly effortless, and come harvest, the fruit was so pristine it practically walked into the winery on its own. Minimal sorting, minimal intervention. The mountain did the work. What ended up in the bottle reflects all of that quiet confidence. Deep ruby in the glass, with a nose that draws you in slowly — dark fruits, savory herbs, and a thread of spicy black licorice that keeps things interesting. On the palate, it's full-bodied, rich, and concentrated, with the kind of acidity and tannins that don't fight the fruit — they hold it, frame it, and let it speak for itself. This wine didn't need much from us. And that, honestly, is the highest compliment a vineyard can receive. 11 cases remain |

2021 Cresta Velia Mount Veeder Cabernet SauvignonThis is the one that didn't get enough credit — and I'm still a little fired up about it. The 2021 Mt. Veeder Cabernet Sauvignon is, in my opinion, one of the most complete wines we have ever made at Cresta Velia. Deep ruby in the glass, with a nose full of ripe blackberries, plum, and cassis that just pulls you in. But what sets this vintage apart is the balance — power and elegance in the same breath, with velvety tannins and a silky texture that makes it hard to put the glass down. The fruit lingers. The finish is long and memorable. And while it's already approachable today, give it a good decant, and it'll show you something even more special. The 2021 flew under the radar when it was released. I always believed in it. I'm glad it gets one more moment in the spotlight before it's gone for good. 21 cases remain
